Stevens Center in Winston-Salem
Originally a 1929 silent movie theatre, the Stevens Center has been restored to its neoclassical splendor, and designated the primary performance space for the North Carolina School of the Arts and home to NCSA’s popular “Something For Everyone” series. It also hosts the Winston-Salem Symphony, Piedmont Opera Theatre, an annual production of the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival’s “A Christmas Carol” and several other local and state arts organizations.Top Performances
The center held world premieres of Neil Simon’s “Lost In Yonkers,” as well as “Jake’s Women.” Other performances have included Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “State Fair,” Victor Borge, the Smothers Brothers, STOMP, Riders In The Sky, the Vienna Choir Boys, Bela Fleck, The Magic School Bus, Carol Channing & Rita Moreno, “Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” Alison Krauss, and a 35th Anniversary Reunion of “The Andy Griffith Show.”
